| Secondary abstract: | The contribution draws upon a comparative analysis of two waves of research into the everyday life of gays and lesbians in Slovenia (2003 and 2014), focusing on the question of the disclosure of same-sex orientation in the context of the family. Here, love plays a dual role: as parental love, it importantly defines the reaction to the child's "coming out" and the later (non-)acceptance of this identity; as homo-erotic love for one's partner, it importantly confirms the individual's sexual identity. Research in Slovenia shows that a significant proportion of gays and lesbians reveal their sexual orientation to their parents only when they are in a same-sex partnership. |
