Secondary abstract: | Over the last two decades many papers have been written about Fr. Stanislav Škrabec. On the centenary of his death, an attempt will be made to relate his work to his own time and to the present. The emphasis will be on his contribution to the development of the Slovene language and consequently to the society as a whole, which since his death has gradually developed into an equal member of the European Union. This is partly down to his work and strivings, as well as his reflections on Slovene public speech, which he wrote largely on the cover of the Franciscan newspaper Cvetje z vertov sv. Frančiška (Flowers from St. Francis's Garden). |
