Abstract

The aim of this paper is to present the methods and techniques used for specialised content-based Slovene courses taught as part of the newly launched degree course at the University of Lodz - Linguistics for Business, on which students learn the basics of accounting, finance and selected business issues; they also learn about areas such as intercultural communication, language pragmatics and applied linguistics, and gain a high level in two European languages. The content of the specialised language courses focuses on three fields: accounting, finance and computer studies. Due to the lack of specially designed materials for teaching these types of courses, the author will introduce her own alternative materials, gathered from different sources such as newspapers and magazines, the internet and textbooks for vocational education. A short overview of syllabi for Linguistics for Business will be given. |
