Abstract

Učitelji uporabljajo največ duhovito pripovedovanje in optimistični humor.

Secondary title: HUMOR IN CLASSROOMS FROM THE PERSPECTIVE OF TEACHERS AND PUPILS IN ELEMENTARY SCHOOLS AND SECONDARY SCHOOLS
Secondary abstract: This master thesis deals with the presence of humor during class from the perspective of teachers, pupils and students. The theoretical part presents different forms of humor and its application during class, as well as the positive and the negative traits of that application. The empirical part demonstrates the results of the survey, conducted among teachers, pupils and students. The item of research was the level of subjects' agreement with the concepts that indicate their opinion on the usage of humor during class, the function of the humor and the frequency of the usage of certain forms of humor. Additional item of research was the existence of differences among teachers with their perceptions of humor according to their seniority, educational stage of their classes and location of their schools. Another item of research was the existence of differences among the perception of humor among pupils/students according to their gender, type of their schools, location of their schools and type of educational programs. 84 primary school teachers and 59 secondary school teachers, as well as 176 primary school pupils and 165 secondary school students, have participated in this survey. Data concerning the teachers, pupils and students has been acquired by usage of questionnaires. The results have shown that the teachers mostly do not perceive classrooms as stern places where there is no place for laughter. They are also aware of their students' desire for greater presence of humor during classes. Teachers also accredit humor with different functions, such as: reduction of tension and stress, improvement of remembrance, increase of motivation and improvement of moods. Forms of humor, most frequently used on their part, are funny anecdotes and optimistic humor. Results of the survey also indicate positive attitude toward different forms of humor, in that funny teachers seem more approachable to students, and that students remember more in the classes where humor is present. Humor has proven to be a valuable trait, according to both teachers as well as pupils and students.
