Abstract

Čista zemlja, voda in zrak.

Secondary abstract: Nature blessed us with clean soil, water and air, but, over the years, people have managed to exploit, destroy and pollute them. For this reason, being aware of the importance of environmental conservation and protection is crucial. If we want to maintain life on Earth, every individual who does not believe in pollution must begin to think differently. In the field of environmental conservation and protection, a new branch of criminology, which is gaining importance, deals with the most pressing issues regarding the environment. Environmental criminology is based on the premise that the environment as a basic human resource must be protected. The paper presents what impact our only port, the Port of Koper, has on the environment and environmental protection, as it operates in direct contact with nature and interferes with it. The port is very important for economy and transport development, which causes environmental pollution. With the help of the newest technology, the port tries to monitor pollution and minimise its effect as much as possible. An annual performance report on pollution reduction and a plan for the future are prepared every year, in which new methods for environmental conservation are determined. Having reviewed annual reports, prepared by the company, we presented pollution practices, compared them for the period between 2009 and 2018, presented how they face these problems as well as outlined their goals for the future and environmental conservation for future generations. We determined that environmental pollution, caused by the port, despite its size and different fields of work, is not above average or above the limit, established by the legislation. The main principle in the port development is environmental conservation for future generations.
