Abstract

Secondary title: Stage fright of public speaking among students of members of the University of Ljubljana
Secondary abstract: Public performing is based on the knowledge and skills the speaker attains with a lot of practice, training and experience. Preparation for a public performance, requires a lot of work and time, because it is very important to really prepare for it beforehand. For a successful public performance, the speaker must be familiar with nonverbal (body language) and verbal (speech) forms of communication. By knowing the nonverbal forms of communication such as gesture, facial expression, gaze, suitable posture, walk and clothing, the speaker is able to make a good first impression on the public at his arrival on stage. The effect of stage fright can be reduced by using multiple different relaxation techniques and methods, and with good practice and preparation for a public performance. To get rid of stage fright before performing publicly takes a lot of work and willpower, but once we get rid of stage fright, a lot of possibilities of improvement and promotion open up. Research of my diploma, was executed using an questionnaire and the results showed that over 47% of people that answered the questionnaire always have stage fright before performing. Over 50% of students in University of Ljubljana thinks, that participation at workshops and educations is important for a good public performance.
