Abstract

Maloprodaja v zadnjem obdobju doživlja korenite spremembe.

Secondary abstract: The retail business has recently undergone radical changes. Retail companies are thus forced to cope with completely new market conditions and adjust accordingly. IT solutions for the support of retail business processes must meet all needs and respond immediately to the transformed required needs in the form of upgrades and new functionalities. Cloud data storage and security are some of the most important innovations that have emerged in the field of information technology. Furthermore, in the master's thesis, we summarized already known research and findings in the field of tax cash registers, cloud-based business, and the significance of cloud-based business operations for retail companies, especially cash transactions. The basis and starting point for our writing was the diploma thesis from Iztok Tili in 2019. I am also frequently faced with this area of expertise in my professional career, so I will endorse the current market situation with a written assignment and findings from my research. In the first part, we summarized the findings in the area of POS (Point-of-Sale) systems and tax cash registers. We presented definitions and vital components and performed a brief overview of the development of cash registers and POS systems, from the invention of the first cash register until today. We presented the findings from the area of models on the spot and the cloud model, also presenting the essential differences between one and the other model and comparing them according to the most important criteria. In the empirical part of the diploma thesis, we conducted in-depth interviews with the employees of various Slovenian retail companies and experts from the Slovenian information technology companies, focusing on testing the hypothesis that retailers are in favor of cloud solutions in the area of POS systems. In the empirical part of the task, we analyzed the answers, compared them with each other, and searched for common points to confirm or refute the hypothesis.
