Abstract

Sodobne avtomobile lahko gledamo kot množico povezanih naprav interneta stvari, ki med seboj med vožnjo intenzivno komunicirajo. Za takšno komunikacijo so splošni internetni protokoli pogosto manj primerni. Preučite primernost protokola MQTT za scenarije uporabe v avtomobilu. Najprej raziščite delovanje MQTT in specifiko avtomobilske komunikacije, nato se osredotočite na varnostne mehanizme protokola in njegove morebitne ranljivosti. Navedite nekaj tipičnih primerov uporabe in možnih posledic varnostnih incidentov avtomobilu ter predlagajte, kako lahko zagotovimo večjo varnost. Izbrani primer napada tudi dejansko izvedite in komentirajte.

Secondary abstract: Modern automobiles can be seen as a set of connected Internet of Things devices, that communicate intensively while driving. Standard internet protocols are often not fit for this scenario. Research the suitability of the MQTT protocol for automotive purposes. First provide an overview of the inner-workings of MQTT and the specifics of automotive communication, then focus on the security mechanisms of the protocol and its potential vulnerabilities. Specify some common use cases of MQTT in automobiles as well as the possible consequences of security flaws, and also suggest some good security practices. Execute and discuss the possible exploits.
