magistrsko delo
Abstract

Work-Family balance during the covid-19 pandemic in slovenia |
Secondary abstract: |
Government regulations and social distancing during the COVID 19 pandemic caused many difficulties for the Slovenian population in balancing work from home and family life. The country, as well as employers and employees, have faced many challenges and problems in setting up new working environments and human resources processes, which have had an impact on work-family balance.
The master's thesis is divided into a theoretical and empirical part. In the theoretical part, we wanted to present the field by analyzing the existing of national and international authors and to present the previous research carried out in the field. In the empirical part, based on a review of literature and research, a questionnaire was developed based on a literature review and research, and a survey of part of the Slovenian population was conducted. The aim of the research was to show the reasons why work-family balance issue occured during the COVID 19 pandemic, to give the general public a real picture of what is causing it and to encourage people and employers to find and implement solutions. The questionnaire was completed by 157 people in Slovenia, including all those who did not work from home during the COVID19 pandemic. To analyze the results, we used appropriate statistical to identify interesting findings that could help in finding solutions for a successful work-family balance.
The study found that respondents had more difficulty balancing work and family during the COVID 19 pandemic than before. Those who worked from home had the most problems, while those who worked for an employer had the least. Children also had an impact on work-family balance, as those who had children had the most problems compared to those who did not. The age of the children also had an impact on the work-family balance, as those who had children in the 1st triad of primary school had the most problems Women had more difficulty with work-family balance than men, despite the fact that we have seen an increase in equality between partners during the COVID 19 pandemic. Respondents reported that they had sufficient support from the employer with work-family balance, which means that they had the most problems due to insufficient self-discipline in planning and organising their time and setting boundaries between the two spheres.
The final results showed us important issues, such as the need to further improve communication in partner relationships, to promote gender equality in household and parenting tasks, the need for additional training and greater flexibility in schedules and work by employers, and the need for greater availability of childcare by the state, even in emergency situations such as the global pandemic COVID 19. The findings are of an important informative nature for individuals as well as for employers and the state, which is already doing good practice, but nevertheless introduce new methods and measures to ease the difficulties of individuals in reconciling work and family. |
