magistrsko delo
Abstract

Social Media as a Source of Information for Mothers of Preschool Children |
Secondary abstract: |
The goal of our thesis was to determine to what extent Slovene mothers of preschool children use social networks as a source of information about motherhood. The thesis also explores their use of traditional sources of information. The method used for gathering information was an online survey, which was active from the end of April to the beginning of June 2021. For the final analysis we sampled 164 questionnaires. We shared the survey through acquaintances and Facebook. Results show, that 24 % of respondents use social networks and other web portals frequently to acquire information about motherhood. Most of the respondents (85 %) use Facebook for gathering this kind of information. When looking at their use of traditional sources, the majority of mothers (97 %) rely on family. Social networks were a better source of information about games, activities, trips, travel and shopping for children when compared to traditional sources. When searching for information over social networks and websites, most of the respondents had concerns due to possible misinformation, unprofessional information, advice subjectivity, information overload and product promotion. Some answers indicate differences in regards to the age, urbanization and education of the respondents. |
