Abstract

Podnebne spremembe, degradacija tal in okolja, erozija rodovitne prsti, upad biodiverzitete, onesnaževanje voda in večanje svetovne populacije so problemi, s katerimi se soočamo v sedanjosti.

Secondary title: Financial Analysis of an Agroforestry System
Secondary abstract: Climate change, soil and environment degradation, fertile soil erosion, biodiversity loss, water pollution and global population growth are problems we are facing nowadays. One of the main culprits causing some of the problems is (indrustrial) agriculture, which will have to undergo more impactful changes if we want to pursue the goals of the 2030 Agenda. In the need for appropriate and concrete solutions for the implementation of green and at the same time productive practices, this master thesis presents a financial analysis of an agroforestry system called ''alley cropping'', which with proper management offers solutions to some of these problems. Using a simulation modeling method, we developed a technological-economic simulation model which shows the production economics of the alley cropping system, and furthermore a financial analysis with the dynamic method of Net Present Value (NPV) for 40 years. The trees involved in the investigation were walnuts (Juglans regia L.) with a density of 56 trees/ha. In alleys, an agronomic operation with a four-year crop rotation was performed. Four scenarios of NPV alley cropping systems ewre compared to the NPV of a monoculture field without the tree component, after 40 years of use. The results indicated that, from a financial and economic point of view, alley cropping was a more viable form of land use than conventional agriculture. NPV alley cropping was better for 3 out of 4 scenarios, compared to the field NPV without trees, after 40-years use
