Abstract

Rezultati so nas namreč nekoliko presenetili.

Secondary title: Mare Heart Rate befor and during Foaling
Secondary abstract: Economic horse breeding also includes gestation and deliveries. Every breeder must know how to act during that time and what changes come with it. The heart rate is only one of many factors that change during the gestation period and that we can monitor. It also tells us something about what is going on during that time. Research was conducted into the breed of Posavina horses that are oriented towards raising foals for breeding and meat. The research showed how the heart rate changes, i.e., gets higher, during the period of gestation, which happens because of the faster metabolism and the development of the foal inside the mare. We are not always around when it is time for delivery, but the data from the present research have provided a new insight into what is happening during the contractions and expulsion. The results were a bit surprising. The heart rate of the male foal was measured while it was moving around and while sucking. This non-invasive technique, which could be used by any horse owner, could find its way into every farm, if just a little bit more research was conducted.
