Abstract

Ob vseh krizah, ki so prizadele slovensko gradbeništvo, je ena manj opaznih, žal pa nič manj pomembnih, kriza strokovnega gradbeniškega jezika. Pomanjkanje bistvenih značilnosti urejenega strokovnega izrazja poraja resen dvom o dejanskem obstoju gradbeniške terminologije.

Secondary abstract: Among all crises, which have struck Slovenian construction industry, the crisis of civil engineering terminology is perhaps less noticeable, but still as important as all the others. The lack of fundamental characteristics of proper terminology causes a reasonable doubt whether Slovenian civil engineering terminology actually exists. After three editions of Splošni tehniški slovar (A General Technical Dictionary), a preparation of the new civil engineering dictionary represents one step towards a proper and regulated vocabulary. Independent initiatives of individuals, based on voluntary contributions, should be replaced with a consistent linguistical - terminological - policy, which should assure primacy of Slovenian language in Slovenia and ease the diction of civil engineers, not only in Slovenian language but also in foreign languages.
