Abstract

Gibalno aktivnejši otroci so manj pogosto uporabljali mobilne naprave. Otroci gibalno aktivnejših mater so bili tudi sami gibalno aktivnejši. Mobilne naprave so pogosteje uporabljali otroci, katerih matere so jih tudi same uporabljale pogosteje.

Secondary title: Preschool children between physical activity and mobile devices
Secondary abstract: Recent research shows that the frequency of mobile device use among preschool children is growing considerably, while the frequency of physical activity is declining, which can have an adverse effect on their development and health. In the theoretical part, the impact of physical activity and (excessive) use of mobile devices on children's development in the preschool period is discussed, and special attention is paid to the role of the family and the parents' example. In the empirical part, the results of a survey conducted among 519 mothers of four-, five- and six-year-old preschool children are presented. According to their mothers, just over half of the preschool children in our sample were physically active every day. Boys were more physically active than girls, and physical activity decreased with age. A seventh of children exceeded the World Health Organization's (WHO) recommended time of use for all digital devices in the preschool period by mobile devices alone. More physically active children used mobile devices less frequently. The children of more physically active mothers were also more physically active themselves. Mobile devices were used more frequently by children whose mothers themselves were more frequent users. Given the results, the conclusions provide guidelines for raising parents' awareness of the impact of physical activity and the use of mobile devices on the development of preschool children and possibilities for further, more in-depth research.
