Abstract

Secondary title: Measuring the energy performance of a tumble dryer with a separate fan drive
Secondary abstract: Due to high electricity consumption and the associated costs of household appliances, including tumble dryers, manufacturers are striving to increasingly improve efficiency by reducing energy consumption. The aim of the thesis was to execute and analyse measurements made on a prototype tumble dryer. Based on managed measurements we tried to optimize the drying process. From the ten made measurements, we obtained the best results in the measurement where the revolutions of the electric motor of the drum were set on 3000 rpm and the revolutions of the electric motor of the fan set at 2700 rpm (in this case the corrected time of drying was 124,2 min and the corrected electric consumption was 1,38 kWh) and the measurement where the revolutions of the electric motor of the drum were set on 3000 rpm and the revolutions of the electric motor of the fan set at 2900 rpm (in this case the corrected time of drying was 122,6 min and the corrected electric consumption was 1,36 kWh) thus obtained the best parameters for the operation of electric motors. Based on these two measurements, we then tried to perform the drying cycle optimization. We did this by changing the revolutions of electric motors according to phases in the drying cycle and thus trying to obtain better results. The optimisation was unsuccessful mainly due to the different laundry kinematics in the drum.
