Abstract

V diplomskem delu sem predstavil validacijo numeričnih orodij za računalniško dinamiko tekočin na primeru hlajenja baterij. Za primerjavo sem uporabil tri programe: SimScale, Ansys in Solidworks. Najprej sem kratko predstavil teoretično ozadje RDT programov in problematiko hlajenja baterij. Nato sem za vse programe opisal geometrijo, robne pogoje, mrežo in nastavitve simulacij ter priložil ustrezne komentarje. Z grafi sem nato prikazal konvergenco ostankov in ustalitev temperatur. Dobljene rezultate sem primerjal z eksperimentalnimi iz članka »Analysis of Cooling Effectiveness and Temperature Uniformity in a Battery Pack for Cylindrical Batteries«.

Secondary title: Validation of CFD tools for Battery cooling
Secondary abstract: The diploma thesis presents validation of numerical tools for computational fluid dynamics on the example of battery cooling. I used three programs for comparison: SimScale, Ansys and Solidworks. In the Introduction, I briefly presented theoretical background of CFD tools and problems of battery cooling. Then I describe geometry, boundary conditions, mesh and simulation settings, used in all programs. Convergence of residuals and transient temperature data are shown in graphs. For reference I used experimental results, given in article »Analysis of Cooling Effectiveness and Temperature Uniformity in a Battery Pack for Cylindrical Batteries«. Main observed parameter was the temperature on selected locations in the model, which also determined simulation accuracy. During analysis I primary focused on how mesh density affects simulation accuracy. In addition I compared air speed and temperature fields on selected cross sections. Conclusion contains commentary on accuracy and adequacy of used programs.
