Abstract

Propeler je sestavljen geometrijski lik, ki zajema krake propelerja in središče propelerja. Začetnik obravnave propelerja je ameriški zobozdravnik Leon Bankoff, ki se je ljubiteljsko ukvarjal z matematiko, predvsem z elementarno geometrijo. V magistrskem delu so predstavljeni nekateri dosežki Leona Bankoffa s poudarkom na rezultatih o simetričnem in asimetričnem propelerju. Obravnavani so tudi nekateri novejši rezultati o asimetričnem propelerju.

Secondary abstract:	The propeller is a composite geometric figure, which includes blades and the propeller shaft. American dentist Leon Bankoff was the first who paid attention to it. Even though he was an amateur mathematician, he made many discoveries when it came to elementary geometry. In this master thesis some of Leon Bankoff's achievements are presented with emphasis on results concerning the symmetric and asymmetric propeller. The thesis also presents some recent discoveries on the asymmetric propeller.
