primerjava starejše in sodobne produkcije
Sabrina Janežič (Author), Peter Stanković (Mentor)

Abstract

Secondary title: Predominant motifs in Slovenian folk music: comparison between older and modern production
Secondary abstract: With its wide circle of listeners, Slovenian folk music represents a special phenomenon that is not losing its popularity through the years. It is most present at the centre of it all and at the place of its creation – on Slovenian grounds, from where it is spreading far and wide. This music genre opens a way of studying its key elements, including motifs found in text, which is also the main focus of this work. Quality motif analysis from both older and more modern productions alike answers which motifs are present in texts from a certain time period and how or if the motifs have changed at all. It has been shown that the prevailing motifs are still more or less the same in both time periods. Both the creators and Slovenians as a targeted audience still identify most with appreciation for our Slovenian soil, nature, countryside, home, love, sexuality, desire, waiting for our loved ones and singing about youth as well as singing serenades. Despite small and insignificant differences in motifs over time, the messages that are passed on through them have become more honest and direct.
