Abstract

Secondary title: THE INFLUENCE OF CHILDREN`S GAMES ON CHILD DEVELOPMENT
Secondary abstract: Playing itself is a pleasant activity for a child, because it appeals to its subconscious need for participation. The main motive of the child’s playing activity is entertainment. We have to know that playing has a big influence on the child’s physical growth, the development of its intelligence, gaining of new experience and knowledge and among other also on its emotive life and its development towards a social being. But playing is not only a way to fight off boredom, it is an opportunity for a child to learn and develop. In this diploma paper we have presented the development of a child from birth to the enrolment into school and some of the most frequent types of games that a child chooses. We have presented methods for encouraging parents to play games with their children, these strengthen a child’s development; we have also presented some tasks of nurses. The purpose of the research was to determine what parents think about playing, which effect it has on their child as well as the importance of the role of a nurse. Methodology: A quantitative descriptive method was used in the research. Information has been gathered with the use of a questionnaire for parents of kindergarten children. Out of 60 questionnaires distributed, 49 were completed and returned. We have statistically processed the gained information and displayed it graphically with the help of Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word. Results: According to the questionnaire we have determined that parents attribute great importance to playing and therefore encourage their children to it. At the same time parents have divided opinions about the role of a nurse in the methods for encouraging parents to play with their children. Conclusion: Playing is very important for a child because it effects its development and thinking. Parents have also a very important role in playing, because they act as animators and mostly as playmates for their children.
