Abstract

Both earthquakes and waves pose potential risk for coastal structures. Various methods are available for the evaluation of liquefaction initiation. By using a combination of probabilistic loading analysis and semi-empirical triggering methods, we determined possible critical earthquake- and wave-loading that may trigger liquefaction beneath the coastal protection structures in Amantea, Calabria, Italy. The selected earthquake-induced liquefaction triggering models are Cetin et al. (2018) and Boulanger and Idriss (2014). Wave-induced liquefaction models by Ishihara and Yamazaki (1984) and Qi and Gao (2015) were applied at selected seabed locations. Our results facilitate a better insight into issues pertaining to multi-hazard liquefaction triggering and define a step-by-step procedure that can be applied to future analyses of the performance of coastal-protection structures under earthquake-loading, while the methods for determining wave-induced liquefaction require further investigation.

Secondary abstract: Obremenitve zaradi potresov in valov predstavljajo tveganje za porušitve obalnih konstrukcij. Za določitev začetka likvifakcije se uporablja več metod. Z uporabo verjetnostne analize obtežb in semi-empiričnih metod za določanje sproženja smo določili možne kritične obremenitve zaradi potresa in valov, ki lahko povzročijo likvifakcijo temeljnih tal pod obalnimi konstrukcijami v Amantei, Kalabrija, Italija. Izbrana modela sproženja likvifakcije zaradi potresa sta Cetin et al. (2018) in Boulanger in Idriss (2014). Za določanje sproženja likvifakcije zaradi valov na izbranih lokacijah smo uporabili modela Ishihara in Yamazaki (1984) in Qi in Gao (2015). Rezultati omogočajo boljši vpogled v probleme pri večkriterijskem določanju sproženja likvifakcije in podrobno prikazujejo postopek, ki ga bo mogoče v bodoče uporabljati pri analizah obalnih konstrukcij obremenjenih s potresi, metode za določanje likvifakcije zaradi valov pa potrebujejo nadaljnje raziskave.
