Abstract

Secondary abstract: Jan Simončič, a member of the youngest generation of Slovene poets, wrote in Slovene as well as in English. His posthumous book Poezije herezije (Poetry of Heresy, 2019) contains numerous poems written in accentual verse, among them a large number of quartets (four-line poems) in both languages. These accentual quartets are analysed in full by determining strong and weak positions. It is shown that the average number of strong positions in a line and the average length of weak intervals differ between the two languages.
