Abstract

Secondary abstract: Miran Jarc's poetic language is full of expressions for sound phenomena. Modre dalje (Blue Onwards), the very first poem of the first collection Človek in noč (Man and Night) ends with a desire for a "heavy sound", the poetic power of articulating longing. But in the same collection he matures to adopt the position of a silent, contemplative listener to the universe. In Lirika (Lyric), the last collection, however, he seems to find a "heavy sound" in classic poetic forms.
