Abstract

Sodelovalo je 338 žensk in 92 moških. Povprečna starost mladostnikov je bila 16,93 let. Ugotovili smo, da starost (rs = 0,05; p = 0,25), čas uporabe interneta (p = 0,80) in učni uspeh (p = 0,42) niso statistično povezani s stopnjo zdravstvene pismenosti. Povprečna zdravstvena pismenost je znašala 28,65. Od vseh sodelujočih je 299 (299/430; 69,6 %) mladostnikov visoko zdravstveno pismenih, 63 (63/430; 14,6 %) srednje in 62 (62/430; 14,4 %) zelo visoko zdravstveno pismenih. Trije mladostniki (3/430; 0,7 %) so nizko in trije (3/430; 0,7 %) zelo nizko zdravstveno pismeni.

Secondary abstract: Introduction: Health literacy is key to empowering and actively involving individuals in their own health. In this final part of the study, we wanted to find out what is the health literacy of adolescents in Slovenia. Methods: Data was obtained using a validated questionnaire "Health Literacy Scale". A cross-sectional study was conducted using descriptive and inferential statistics. Data analysis was performed using Microsoft Excel 2016 and IBM SPSS 28.0. Results: 430 (55.4%) of the 755 adolescents invited participated in the survey. 338 females and 92 males participated. The average age of the adolescents was 16.93 years. We found that age (rs = 0.05; p = 0.25), time spent on the internet (p = 0.80) and academic achievement (p = 0.42) were not statistically associated with health literacy level. The mean health literacy score was 28.65. Of all participants, 299 (299/430; 69.6%) adolescents were highly health literate, 63 (63/430; 14.6%) were moderately health literate and 62 (62/430; 14.4%) were very highly health literate. Three adolescents (3/430; 0.7%) have low and three (3/430; 0.7%) very low health literacy. Discussion and conclusion: We find that adolescents are highly health literate, with only a small proportion of low and very low health literate. Age, academic achievement and time spent on the internet have no statistically significant association with health literacy. Health literacy can be improved through information provision, effective communication and structured education.
