Abstract

Najpogosteje so našteli pravico do izobraževanja, družine, igre in do prijateljev.

Secondary abstract: Children's rights in the primary school environment are among the less researched topics in Slovenia. Children are often not heard. The empirical part aimed to present a research with a purpose of identifying pupils' awareness of children's rights, ratified by the Convention on the Rights of the Child, how they perceive those rights, how often they are implemented in their everyday life, and in which school subjects they have heard about them the most. 171 primary school pupils from Slovenia, Hungary and Serbia were included in the research. It was found that the pupils are familiar with the topic of children's rights and the international document defining those rights. Furthermore, they were able to list some of children's rights. The most commonly listed rights were the right to an education, family, play and friends. The pupils showed a high level of understanding children's rights, especially the right to an education, to live with their parents, to their own identity, and the right to rest, play and free time. Pupils mostly raised awareness of the children's rights topic in the school subject of Natural and Social Sciences about Environmental Studies. We found that, on average, students can always use the rights that belong to them and are only rarely taken away from them. It was established that a very large proportion of pupils use their rights appropriately in everyday situations.
