Abstract

Zato smo v magistrskem delu preučili uporabo in učinkovitost socialne regulacije čustev v vsakdanjem življenju v povezavi z dejavnikoma socialne opore in intenzitete čustvovanja.

Secondary title: Emotions in everyday life: the role of social support and intensity of emotion in the use and effectiveness of social regulation of emotions
Secondary abstract: Despite the growing interest in the field of affective science with an emphasis on emotion regulation, we note that there is a lack of research dealing with social emotion regulation, which, according to research, is significantly related to mental health and quality of life. For this reason, this master's thesis examines the use and effectiveness of social emotion regulation in everyday life in connection with the factors of social support and emotion intensity. A study was conducted with an intensive research design involving 205 young adults who participated in a week-long study using a particular mobile phone application. Analyzes of the results were performed based on the averaging of the longitudinally obtained data. The key findings of the research are that perceived social support is negatively associated with expressive suppression and positively associated with social sharing. Furthermore, expressive suppression is positively related to negative affect, and social sharing is positively related to positive and negative affect. Social support and emotion intensity represent significant moderators of the relation between social sharing and negative affect. Social sharing mediates the relationship between social support and affective state. As one of the first in this field, the research provides a starting point for further research into the contextual factors of social emotion regulation, which could contribute to a more sophisticated and comprehensive understanding of its flexibility.
