Secondary title: | Vegetative reproduction of strawberries (Fragaria x ananassa Duch.) |
Secondary abstract: | Strawberries are still classically propagated by nerves from the mother plant or by tissue culture (tip, somatic embryogenesis). The most commonly used technique for mother plant propagation is micropropagation. The objective of this work was to investigate different media and the role of hormones for micropropagation of strawberries. Micropropagated plants produce more shoots per plant, and the protocol is used for commercial strawberry propagation in many countries. Tissue culture remove viruses but also fungal and bacterial diseases. Successful establishemnt of tissue culture first requires sterilisation of the plant material and the culture media. Chemical sterilisation of culture media with sodium hypochlorite is inexpensive and comparable to autoclaving. Plant hormones, their concentrations and their interactions are crucial for the full development of the plant. |
