Abstract

V diplomskem delu je predstavljena tematika o motivaciji in izobraževanju.

Secondary title: TEACHER'S MOTIVATION FOR EDUCATION IN PRIMARY SCHOOLS
Secondary abstract: The thesis presents the theme of learning and motivation. In this research we have tried to determine the level of motivation for self-education in primary schools in Slovenia. The need for education is nowadays present everywhere, even in teaching profession. The situation in education is constantly changing therefore teachers and other educators have to constantly train and educate themselves in order to successfully teach young people and to not lose on their quality. The first part of the thesis defines the theoretical concepts associated with education and motivation. We used various domestic and foreign literature, and we also presented the program, activities and objectives of the elementary schools as educational institutions. Practical part of this work was carried out by means of a questionnaire that was sent to teachers in various primary schools in Slovenia. With the help of their responses we got a clear picture of the current situation in this area. We found out what the level of motivation of the teachers is, how many of them are attending various training courses within and outside the school, how important are the different motivational factors for them and which are the barriers that prevent them to educate themselves. It turned out that teachers are generally motivated for learning. The greatest motivation to learn represents the desire for new knowledge, greater efficiency and quality of work and personal growth and progress. The main reason that teacher do not educate themselves additionally is the cost of education. On the basis of obtained results, suggestions for possible improvements in the motivation for self-learning of the teachers are added.
