Abstract

Medvrstniško nasilje je v osnovi dobro opredeljeno, vendar skozi leta prihajajo strokovnjaki do novih spoznanj, zlasti v zadnjem desetletju, ko zaradi razvoja tehnologije prihaja v ospredje relativno nova oblika nasilja, imenovana spletno nasilje.

Secondary title: Peer violence during the COVID-19 epidemic
Secondary abstract: Peer violence is generally well-defined, but over years experts have arrived at new insights, especially in the last decade, when due to the development of technology, a relatively new form of violence called online violence is coming to the forefront. Online violence experienced its boom especially during the COVID-19 epidemic, when, due to the prescribed epidemiological measures of the Government of the Republic of Slovenia, due to distance education and restrictions and bans on socializing, authentic personal contacts were replaced by social networks, and as a result, the use also increased ICT technologies. The thesis aims to determine how the COVID-19 epidemic affected peer relationships and peer violence and seeks answers to four research questions: How did the COVID-19 epidemic affect interpersonal relationships, how did peer violence change, what forms became more frequent, what problems did adolescents face more often during the COVID-19 epidemic, and where did young people turn most often for help during the crisis. In addition to online violence, which studies show has already been experienced by 20 to 50 percent of children and adolescents with the proportion of girls even higher, we note that during the epidemic children's mental health problems increased, including signs of anxiety, depression, and suicide. In addition to distance education, the increase in family violence also posed additional distress and issues for children and young people. Children and young people most often sought help from their parents and friends or through non-governmental organizations. Still, often they solved difficulties themselves or resolved to indirect reporting in schools. The school, parents, Social Work Centers (CSD), and other non-governmental organizations also played a significant role in dealing with peer violence during the COVID-19 epidemic, which adapted to the new, changed situation in numerous ways, to help children and young people in distress urgently needed in this period of crisis.
