diplomsko delo
Abstract
V diplomski nalogi z naslovom Poljedelsko izrazje v Vogričevcih sem najprej predstavila geografske, zgodovinske in kulturne značilnosti kraja Vogričevci in okolice.

Agricultural terms in Vogričevci |
Secondary abstract: |
In the dissertation entitled Agricultural Terms in Vogričevci geographical, historical and cultural characteristics of the village of Vogričevci and the surroundings are presented in the first place. After that I exposed phonetic, morphological and syntactic features of the speech, which is referred to as the speech of Middle Prlekija by Slovene dialectology. This speech is part of a dialect of Prlekija and it is spoken on the lower field of Ptuj, between the rivers Ščavnica and Pesnica. The vocalic system is monophthongal. The main part of dissertation presents the collecting of agricultural terms in Vogričevci. The collected dialectal material is presented in the dictionary, which is divided into three chapters: Rural implements, Harvest, Farm Work; Animals; Garden and Orchard. Included are words, which are slowly disappearing from the speech and are well-known only by the oldest generation of speakers as well as contemporary terms, which came into the dialect on account of introduction of modern machinery and implements for cultivation and other business, related to farming. Such terms came into dialect mostly through literary language. The dictionary consists of 717 dictionary entries, most of which are nouns. The headwords are arranged in alphabetical order. The literary headword is followed by corresponding dialectal word in phonetic transcription. There is also designation of the word class. Next is semantic explanation. I also analysed the origin of words and found out that the basic vocabulary, related to farming, is Slavonic, because there is the greatest number of words, which were not borrowed from foreign languages. Most of the borrowed words came from Germanic language group. The reason for such impact of German upon the lexicon of this dialect is historical, namely, people in this area used to live in contact with the speakers of German language. There are also a considerable number of words of Roman origin, but most of them came into dialect through German. Dialectal material has been collected by means of the questionary, prepared by Francka Benedikt. As far as the informer is concerned, I chose Mr. Anton Vajda from Vogričevci. He works as a farmer and he is familiar with the old implements and instruments, which were used in old times by people at cultivating and other business, related to farming. From his childhood and narration of his parents he remembers how people used to reap with a sickle or a scythe, thresh corn with flails and clean it with the winnowing machine. Then the first straw cutters and threshing machines were introduced. Not earlier than in the 60s of the previous century the first combine harvesters, which were able to reap and thresh at once, were introduced. Before the introduction of a tractor they ploughed with simple ploughs, which were drawn by draught animals, and they cut the grass manually. |
