diplomsko delo
Abstract

The forest playroom of the Stročja vas kindergarten: What lives in the soil? |
Secondary abstract: |
The forest provides children with an open and natural learning environment for play, new challenges and exploration. Exploring and playing in the forest can provide children with many opportunities and possibilities for development and learning. The aim of this work is to develop a learning unit, which we called "forest playroom", near the kindergarten Stročja vas. The aim of the work was to find out whether children learn to understand their life needs and develop a positive attitude towards them by learning about and interacting with organisms. We focused on soil organisms. The work consists of a theoretical and a practical part. The theoretical part introduces the importance of science in preschool and the field of nature according to the curriculum. The biology of soil animals, namely earthworm, spider and bog lizard, is described in detail. It was very important how the child learns about ground animals and how to prepare a suitable place for keeping animals in the kindergarten, in the playroom, and what role the educator plays in this. In the empirical part, we first defined the teaching unit methodologically and then presented the activities that we carried out with the help of 5-6 year old children. Before conducting the activity, we asked the children some prepared questions about a particular animal. The same questions were then asked after the learning unit. The results were compared with each other. We found that direct experience and contact with an animal changes the child's attitude toward the animal in a more positive direction, and that by learning about and interacting with organisms, children learn to understand their life needs. The educator's guidance and example are very important for learning about nature and organisms in the forest. |
