Secondary title: | Acquisition of citizenship under ukrainian and slovenian law |
Secondary abstract: | The turbulent and demanding period changed the individual's view on the issue of citizenship. In recent years, it has been about raising the level of national consciousness of citizens, self-identification of the nation, and increasing interests and involvement of citizens in nation-building processes. The master's thesis deals with the origin and development of the concept of citizenship and the fundamental principles of acquiring citizenship. The master's thesis focuses primarily on the legal regulation of the process of acquiring citizenship in Ukraine and in the Republic of Slovenia. Here, the analysis between the two arrangements is investigated from the perspective of Slovenia as a member country of the European Union and Ukraine as a "third world" country. The assignment explores the similarities and differences between the legal arrangements, and highlights the issue of citizenship acquisition procedures in both Ukraine and Slovenia. Corrupt actions in the public sector of Ukraine and insufficient regulation of time limits in the process of acquiring citizenship in Slovenia are the main reasons for the excessively long and complicated process of acceptance into citizenship. The contribution of the master thesis is reflected in warnings about the deficient legislative regulation of the process of acquiring citizenship in both countries, as well as suggestions for their improvement. |
