Abstract

Diplomsko delo predstavlja besedje izbranih pesmi A. M. Slomška.

Secondary title: WORDS OF SELECTED POEMS OF A. M. SLOMŠEK
Secondary abstract: The thesis presents the vocabulary of selected poems written by A. M. Slomšek. In the first chapter we discuss Slomšek's poetic activity which was first of all based upon educational objectives and not that much upon artistic perfection. The research of vocabulary is restricted to a selection of twelve poems from a poetry collection by Matija Ahacl named Koroške in Štajerske pesmi. Having Slomšek's signature, the author of the thesis presupposes they were originally written by him. The content and formal analysis of the poems is presented and data about their origin are considered. Corrections which appear in different editions of Ahacl's collection (1833, 1838, 1852) and in Slomšek's Šola vesela are chronologically represented. According to these changes, for which the author presupposes to be made by Slomšek himself, the author recognizes Slomšek's language development and his striving after uniformity of Eastern and Central Slovene language. In the subsequent chapter a linguistic analysis of the selected poems follows, that is on the phonological, morphological, syntactic and on the orthographical level. This analysis is complemented by comparison of three poems, which were not originally written by Slomšek, but were edited according to other templates. By means of linguistic analysis the author identifies derogation from the current established literary standards and recognizes Slomšek's language characteristics and his approach towards Central Slovene language. In this way the author ascertains that so-called new forms are not taken into consideration neither in the selected poems nor in adaptations, however mixing of Eastern and Central Slovene language (syncretism) is obvious. In the last part of the thesis the lexicographical presentation of the selected poems in the form of a vocabulary follows. Words are systematically presented and equipped with grammatical information, explanation of meaning and illustrative material. The vocabulary represents Slomšek's rich vocabulary and at the same time draws attention to particularities of his time (19th century) and place (Eastern Styrian area).
