Secondary abstract: | Functional structuralism is based on an understanding of language as a hierarchical expressive-semantic dependence of connections which form a meaningful functional whole. Its starting point and basic unit of communication is expressed in the function of the sentence elements. Word types are given meaning by the capacity of modification as sentence elements, the semantic reference of which, when endogenous lexemes are concerned, is the propositional sentence elements. |
