Secondary title: | Stress and emotional intelligence as related factors of simultaneous interpreting |
Secondary abstract: | The aim of my diploma paper was to illustrate the stress, which is experienced by professional simultaneous interpreters and students of interpreting and to link stress and emotional intelligence. In the first part of the paper I described the relatively new science of interpreting. Then I introduced some definitions of stress and emotional intelligence. The last part was the analysis of the questionnaire I put together for the purpose of the paper. With the help of the questionnaire and a research, which was carried out within the AIIC (Professional Conference Interpreters Worldwide) association, I established a connection between stress and emotional intelligence and determined the differences between professional interpreters and students of interpreting in regards to handling stress. |
