Abstract

Secondary title: Implementation of experimental work in the 8th and 9th grades in the subject of biology and chemistry during the closure of schools due to the pandemic
Secondary abstract: The COVID-19 pandemic has brought sudden changes in the world of education for teachers, parents and students alike. The only possibility to continue the educational process with the closure of public life was distance education, which represented a special challenge for teachers of subjects based on experimental research work, such as chemistry and biology. In the master's thesis, we investigated how and to what extent the research work in the mentioned subjects took place during distance education compared to school education, how this form of education is seen by parents, students and teachers, what advantages and disadvantages the changes brought and what are the influences on the participants in the distance education process. We found that there is a statistically significant difference in the scope of laboratory exercises performed in chemistry and biology in distance education and in school education. It has been shown that there is a deficit in knowledge and experimental skills among distance-educated students, and that home schooling also has serious consequences for children's mental and physical health.
