Abstract

Secondary title: Developing algebraic thinking in preschool period with movement patterns
Secondary abstract: The thesis entitled Developing algebraic thinking in preschool period with movement patterns consists of two parts, a theoretical part and a practical part. In the theoretical part, the fields of mathematics and movement and the integration of these two fields are introduced. In more detail, we presented the mathematical content of patterns, how we develop algebraic thinking and the results of research aimed at studying pattern recognition in preschool children. As part of the practical work, we prepared activities on movement patterns, which we then carried out with preschool children. The children were tested before and after the activities to check their knowledge and understanding of patterns. The results showed that most of the children were able to continue the pattern with the link cubes before the activities itself, while after the pattern activities, all children were able to continue the pattern with the cubes. Children also made progress in repeating and continuing the movement pattern. However, the greatest progress was seen in the creation of the movement patterns.
