Abstract

Secondary title: PUPILS' ACTIVITIES OUTSIDE OF CLASSROOM IN THE SUBJECT ENVIRONMENTAL EDUCATION IN THE SECOND GRADE OF PRIMARY SCHOOL
Secondary abstract: According to the course syllabus of environmental education, teachers should encourage their pupils to learn from the environment outside of classroom. There is evidence that experimental learning tends to be more interesting, and as such has better educational impact, which consequently causes more efficient memorizing of education materials among pupils. The syllabus also provides teachers with guidance for preparation of corresponding activities/tasks for the pupils' to perform on the field. The theoretical part of the diploma paper titled Aktivnosti učencev izven učilnice pri pouku spoznavanja okolja v 2. razredu (Pupils' Activities Outside of Classroom in the Subject Environmental Education in the Second Grade of Primary School) outlines the pupil's activities when active in fieldwork. It is primarily based on the concept of fieldwork, the methods of fieldwork, and descriptions of skills and abilities that pupils develop when learning outside the classroom. The empirical part was realized with the second grade pupils at Ribnica na Pohorju primary school. The second grade pupils planned, executed and evaluated the fieldwork in the thematic set Pogledam naokrog (I look around). The findings support the research hypothesis claiming that through the fieldwork children can develop relevant skills and abilities by exact observation, comparing, sorting, editing, reasoning etc. In addition to these, children develop important educational components, such as: cooperation, tolerance, peace and positive atmosphere.
