Secondary abstract: | Language policy involves processes by which a society influences its language; however, in turbulent social and political circumstances, this influence can turn into the contamination of the language by political ideologies. In this paper we focus on the social and political elements of language policy; by looking at the newly-formed standards of the former Serbo-Croatian language, we show how social power influences the process of planning the status and corpus of a certain language. |
