diplomsko delo
Martina Dvornik (Author), Marija Ropič (Mentor)

Abstract

Secondary title: COMPARISON OF MONTESSORI PRIMARY SCHOOL AND PUBLIC PRIMARY SCHOOL AT SLOVENE LESSONS IN THE FIRST TRIENNIUM
Secondary abstract: In diploma work there is a comparison between Montessori primary school and public nine-year primary school in the first triad in Slovene language lessons. Both schools have different pedagogical approaches for bringing students to knowledge. Diploma work contains comparisons of four fields. Because of different teaching methods and school concepts there are some differences between general aims. Comparison of minimum knowledge standards at the end of the first triad showed that there are more minimum standards in public primary school, especially in the field of imaginary text. For achieving these minimum standards of knowledge, students need certain teaching instruments which highly differ in the mentioned schools. There is also a difference in eliminating of illiteracy. The differences are great and they very much stand out. Pupils in Montessori primary school start to acquire letters at the very beginning; actually they have been familiar with them since the kindergarten. In the first triad they learn how to write small and capital letters in handwriting. In public nine-year primary school they first learn how to write capital and then small letters and in the third grade small and capital letters in handwriting. The procedure of acquiring letters and the succession of acquiring letters greatly differs between the two schools. The differences are present because of various didactical material and way of teaching.
