Abstract

V magistrskem delu je predstavljeno in raziskano življenje starih ljudi v Domu starejših Lendava.

Secondary title: Life of old people in the Lendava Elderly Home
Secondary abstract: The master's thesis presents and explores the life of old people in the Lendava Elderly Home. In the theoretical part, social work is highlighted with an emphasis on work with old people. In the following, an overview of the aging of the population is made using various theories of aging. Homes for the elderly in Slovenia and the role of social work in them are described. The selected home is presented in more detail - the Lendava Elderly Home. The interviews were conducted with the residents of the selected home and include the residents' experiences with the stay, the concepts of loneliness and social networks, as well as the views and opinions of the residents were explored and included in the theoretical part. The concept of loneliness is presented and explored in connection with the activities that take place in the Lendava Home for the Elderly. These are also presented through interviews. A very important factor that affects the residents is the relationship with the employees of the home. The research covers the residents' view of events during the covid-19 epidemic. The final paper summarizes the research on the changes in the social network of the residents of the Lendava Home for the Elderly after moving into the home for the elderly. The results prove that the residents are satisfied with the living conditions, especially those who temporarily moved to Radence in the last year due to the renovation of their home, which consequently led to a decrease in visits and contacts with family. From the conversation with the residents, it is clear that they do not feel lonely, but they do highlight loneliness in conversations, especially in the afternoon when there are no organized activities. Residents like to participate in them, but they need more encouragement for more active participation. The residents' reasons for coming to the home and choosing it are different, but one of the most common is certainly an illness that limits their independence and self-care.
