Abstract
Učenci so bili vsi slovenske narodnosti in so pripadali rimskokatoliški veroizpovedi. V okviru pionirske organizacije so šolsko mladino spodbujali k čim večji interesni dejavnosti. Vključeni so bili v Kajuhovo bralno značko in sodelovali pri Kurirčkovi pošti. Vsako leto so tekli štafeto mladosti in pripravili veliko kulturnih prireditev. Leta 2009 so pred staro šolo postavili temeljni kamen in začeli gradili novo, moderno šolo. Trenutno griška osnovna šola deluje v prostorih UPI - Ljudske univerze Žalec.

After World War I in 1918, Elementary School Griže successfully continued with the lessons, attracting more and more students, despite modest number of those who were attending the lessons at that time. The former mine in Zabukovica was the reason why more and more families were moving to Griže, including families with school age children, therefore the number of enrolled students was increasing every year. Lessons began with a mass, the poor students were given books and the headmaster enrolled the first-formers. After the war, the German language was replaced with the Slovenian, which became a school subject. All of the students were Slovenians and Roman Catholic. During World War II, the German authorities took over the school and appointed their people as teachers. Until the end of the war, the number of students decreased due to the great terror of the German teachers. After the liberation, the building was renovated and at the beginning the lessons only took place for three to four hours a day, in order to prepare the students for the next school year 1945/46. That was the time when a mass and religious education were excluded from the school programm. Instead the pioneer detachment, the Red Cross and the school cooperative society were founded. Within the pioneer detachment the young were encouraged to attend different activities, such as the Kajuh Reading Badge and "Kurirčkova pošta", which was a relay of the young Slovenian students. Every year, the students ran the Tito's relay and prepared different cultural events. During the school year 1969/70, a new school was built - this was the end of crowdy classrooms and bad hygiene conditions. The school had a new gym, kindergarten, school kitchen serving milk dishes, new classrooms, rooms for the class teachers and a big staff room. In 2009, foundation stone was laid and the construction work for the new modern school began. Elementary School Griže is currently located at the Public Institution for Education and Training in Žalec. |
