Abstract

Kljub dosedanji izčrpni literaturi so predvsem zaradi pomembnosti svojega dela še vedno premalo izpostavljene in omenjene.

Secondary title: Dominican convents in slovenia during middle ages
Secondary abstract: The subject of the master's thesis is the Slovenian monasteries of mendicant orders, with an emphasis on the Dominican convents. Monasteries and religious orders come with different histories and movements in Slovenia and worldwide. The institution of monasteries and their development are closely related to the spreading and consolidation of the Catholic faith; they also played an essential role in cultural and social life, economy, education, science, etc. All important monastic orders, which held extraordinary importance for the area and population, moved to the Slovenian area during the Middle Ages. Mendicant orders appeared together with the development of medieval cities and changed lifestyles. The thesis will emphasise the Dominican order, which is highly dedicated to preaching and general pastoral care. The primary purpose is to highlight the Dominican nuns, with primary mission to educate young noble girls. Despite the comprehensive literature, the Dominican nuns still do not receive enough attention and credit, especially since their work is very significant.
