Abstract

Secondary abstract: The paper first gives an overview of the institutional capacities and translation output within the EU with special regard to Slovene as a SL and TL. In the second part, translation norms in the EU are compared with the concept of norms in Translation Studies. The revival of equivalence, although outdated in Translation Studies since the 1990s, in the sociocultural context of the EU can be explained by understanding equivalence as an important means for the construction of a transcultural framework of common concepts and values.
