Abstract

Secondary title: Extending the tree-ring chronology of beech from Gorjanci
Secondary abstract: Dendrochronological investigations of beech (Fagus sylvatica L.) from the region of Gorjanci were prepared. Beech trees from Krvavi Kamen and historical buildings from Dolž and its soroudnings were also included. Tree-ring width analyses were made from disks taken from 12 beech trees and 53 examples from 7 historical buildings. When the tree-rings were sorted out, the chronology from the research was 107 years long; it was higher than 6 for the period from 1898 to 2004. It was extended with the chronology of historical buildings, 219 years long and covering the period from 1689 to 1907, being higher than 4. The research was made with a help of 2 similar chronologies made in Kočevje. United beech chronology from the region of Gorjanci is 316 years long, covering the period from 1689 to 2004. The infection analysis of beech trees from historical buildings was also made. Wood was attacked by furniture beetle (Anobium punctatum De Greer), in some examples also by white rot fungi. The damage of wood did not depend on beech age, but its growing site. The most damaged wood was found in humid places (over the basements).
