diplomsko delo
Abstract

Factors for selecting a leadership style |
Secondary abstract: |
Leadership style is usually seen as a way of behaving, which manifests itself in different ways. So behaviour is the result of the interaction between what we think and how we feel, and is a reflection of the character and personality of the leader. When it comes to leadership style, however, an effective leadership style is one that reflects the type of character of the leader, the characteristics of the employees and the situation between them. Leaders must constantly adapt and seek the right leadership style to suit their organisation, but in all this adaptation they must not distort their personality and characteristics. In this thesis we have investigated which factors influence the choice of leadership style that a leader chooses in an organisation. In the first part of the thesis we defined what a leadership style is and the theories of leadership styles, as well as defining leadership, the leader and the employees. This is followed by the factors for the selection of a leadership style, i.e. the groups of factors and the relationship of the factors to the leadership style. In the second part, which is empirical, we conducted interviews with several leaders through which we learned about the characteristics of successful leaders and their leadership style, we found out what these factors are that influence the selection of style in practice and how they interrelate during different situations. In the empirical part, we conducted interviews in which we realised that managers use a combination of leadership styles, as today's turbulent business world is full of unexpected situations that need to be well responded to and adapted to. We conclude that the most important factor is definitely the personality of the leader and the organisational culture, which belongs to the group of factors related to the internal environment of the company. Communication is the key to the success of any organisation. |
