Abstract

To so pričakovanja staršev. V tem delu smo s pomočjo strokovne literature opredelili, kaj sploh so pričakovanja. Ta področja so v predšolskem obdobju najpomembnejša.

Secondary title: Parents' expectations as a source of stress with their pre-school child
Secondary abstract: The following diploma work with the title Parents' expectations as a source of stress with their pre-school child consists of a theoretical and empiric part. In the theoretical part we have, with the help of professional literature, defined the basic characteristics of stress and stressors and how we can recognize them as well as what strategies we can use in order to handle them. We have also defined the situations that may lead to cause stress with a pre-scholl child and the role of parents within such situations and how they can provide help in order for the child to face stressful situations. After we have briefliy defined what stress is, we have devoted our work to one of the factors that cause stress with a pre-school child. It is the parents' expectations. In this part we have with the help of professional literature briefly defined what expectations actually are. After that we summed up how parents can help thier child achieve the wanted expectations and the influence of various educational factors which can set realistic and optimal expectations. Within the empiric part of this work we have searched how (if) parents' expectations influence their pre-school child and if they can cause stress. We would like to get to know what expectations parents grow towards their child and if they bear in mind the child's abilities, skills and wishes. The following data has been collected with the help of the on-line survey questionnaire and later processed as well as interpreted with he help of the SPSS programme. We found that parents of preschool children have the highest expectations in the area of language, society and movement. These areas are the most important in the preschool period. Due to high expectations there are come also consequences. Many parents expect a lot from their children, but they would not invest much effort in realizing the expectations. There is also the other extreme, where parents are so driven to fulfill expectations, that they don't even notice stress in the child.
