diplomsko delo
Abstract

Secondary abstract: |
This paper, titled The role of the puppet in promoting the emotional development of the preschool child, comprises a theoretical and an empirical part. In the theoretical part, the importance of puppets and their connection with emotions were generally defined. We described the structure of emotions and studied children's emotional development and its connection to puppets in detail. We also described the role of puppets in the development of children's imagination, self-esteem, communication, empathy, creativity and intellect as well as the use of puppets in preschool by preschool teachers. The power of puppets and their use as a means of motivation and therapy were touched upon. The theoretical part concludes with a chapter defining the role of preschool teachers in children's emotional development. In the empirical part, we performed activities using a hand-held puppet called Smeško (Smiley face). Using the puppet, we performed five activities to familiarise children with simple and complex emotions and how to express them. Through theatrical and puppet activities, children learnt about simple emotions, such as happiness, anger, sadness and fear, and a complex emotion, love. They learnt how they can overcome fear and anger and express them in an acceptable way. In doing so, we observed the role and influence of the puppet in encouraging children's emotional development. We determined that puppets are an important device used to familiarise children with understanding, naming and expressing emotions in a way that is pleasant and interesting to them. |
