diplomsko delo visokošolskega študijskega programa Varnost in policijsko delo
Abstract
V prvem delu diplomskega dela smo povzeli nastanek Specialne enote (SE), njen razvoj in razdelitev ter vlogo različnih specialnosti v sami enoti.

Psychological factors affecting the work of police divers |
Secondary abstract: |
In the first part, we summarized the establishment of the Special Forces (SF), its development, division, and the role of various specialities within the unit. The second part focused on the operations of the diving speciality, the hazards facing police divers in their work, and the significance of psychological factors influencing the safe operation of police divers.
Tasks performed by SF divers include: participation in rescue operations, counter-terrorism activities, search for missing persons, locating and documenting traces and objects of criminal activities, safety inspections of ships, rafts, and other structures, as well as preventive inspections of the coastline. Evidence-based medicine suggests that frequent and prolonged diving poses certain health risks. Furthermore, there are unpredictable circumstances that pose a risk of acute injuries and illnesses.
From a safety perspective, police divers must be in good physical and psychological condition, enabling them to handle their tasks effectively. Based on a sample of surveyed police divers, we found that most had experienced unpleasant incidents during their work, affecting their perception and performance. However, they do not perceive fear as the sole or primary emotion related to safety. While fear may arise in stressful situations, other emotions and psychological traits are also important from a safety standpoint.
Regular psychological preparation is key to coping with stressful situations and maintaining mental stability and efficiency at work. Respondents believed that more than psychological preparedness, optimal physical readiness and training are important for work safety. They were also convinced that regular training and handling diving equipment is a crucial preventive measure to reduce negative psychological impacts on their safety.
Based on the research findings, it can be inferred that introducing certain organisational and legislative changes would enhance the safety and quality of life of police divers. |
