The bachelor's thesis explores the possibility of usage of unified methodology for developing information systems for implementation of SharePoint system into business environment.
The idea for the thesis originates in compulsory work pratice, regulated by the Faculty of computer and information science in Ljubljana. During my practice I obtained basic knowledge about the implementation of SharePoint systems and dificulties arising from this process. After consultation with my advisor, who was also involved in the development of EMRIS methodology, I decided to try to formalize steps of SharePoint implementation with EMRIS methodology in a way to minimize room for error.
For better understanding of BA thesis, the first part describes the history of SharePoint evolution and its architectural basics. After being acquainted with theoretical basics, we look into the improvisation of portal initiation. The last part of the thesis describes the installation of SharePoint Foundation 2010 into a virtual envirnoment. The main purpose of my thesis is to do a guideline for successful portal deployment. All three parts of the thesis cover theoretical, explorational as well as practical aspects and form a complete unit.
EMRIS methodology is suitable for SharePoint technologies implementation, but with a few limitations. To implement the system in a way described in the thesis, several user roles and groups are needed. This means that such approach is appropriate for larger dimension systems. When building smaller environments, understanding the basics of EMRIS is necessary, because there is a lot of critical decision meaking. Many tasks are performed through diffeent procedures, in shorter extent, or are simply unnecessary. For such cases, the methodology providess shorter approach. |
