Abstract

Secondary title: The oldest profession in the world: attitude of young people towards sex work and prostitution
Secondary abstract: The sexual industry represents a profitable sector that is expanding and evolving. In this field, new trends are constantly emerging, resulting in a variety of practices with different levels of intimacy within sexual work. The sexual revolution brought changes in the perception of women and female sexuality, as well as shifts within the realm of sexual work. Despite development, digitalization, and globalization, the stigma surrounding the sexual industry is strongest within prostitution. The aim of this master's thesis was to gain a thorough insight into the topic of sexual work and prostitution, as well as their placement in social contexts in late modern Western societies, through the study of secondary sources. A quantitative research was conducted using online surveys on the 1KA portal, followed by an analysis of young people's attitudes towards sexual work and prostitution. Young people are a very important factor in predicting and understanding social changes, as they also shape them with their practices and attitudes. The results showed that young people have a reserved attitude towards sexual work and prostitution. They associate entering sexual work with both economic motivation and coercion. Men have a somewhat more positive attitude. Since no previous research on this topic has been conducted in our country, and this research represents only a small sample, comparison and generalization are difficult.
